35-Year-Old Accused Of Stealing Mail, Including Checks, From CT Post Office

A 35-year-old man is accused of stealing mail, including thousands of dollars worth of checks, from a Connecticut post office.

Hartford County resident Erick Gomez-Rodriguez, of New Britain, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Tuesday, Aug. 30, Connecticut State Police reported.

State Police began investigating a burglary and mail theft at the Andover Post Office, located at 335 Route 5 in Andover, on Jan. 23, authorities said.

Police in Rhode Island then pulled over a vehicle that contained large amounts of burglary tools, along with a stack of nine checks, valued at a total of $2,584.47, with addresses listed to Andover and surrounding towns on Jan. 25, according to the report. 

Officers arrested Gomez-Rodriguez and a juvenile at the time, authorities said.

After Gomez-Rodriguez was released, a warrant was issued for his arrest in the investigation, police said.

Following an investigation, authorities said Gomez-Rodriguez was charged with:

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Possession of burglary tools
  • Third-degree larceny
  • Conspiracy
